FANS SOCIETY EXPLAINED
Fund for the Arts on the North Shore (FANS) supports local artistic creation through the provision of grant monies for burgeoning North Shore artists. FANS recognizes exceptional artist achievements with the annual presentation of the Distinguished Artist Award.
How It Works
Managed by the North Shore Community Foundation, the Fund for the Arts on the North Shore receives donations, bequests and other funds from arts supporters in our community, which all go toward the building of the Fund’s capital account which has a current balance of approximately $150,000. The goal of the society is to support local artists whil growing an endowment fund that will provide a stable funding stream for artists to continue and explore their creative potential
As a registered charity, FANS Society issues tax deductible receipts for such donations. Interest earned on the Fund is disbursed back to the FANS Society, which in turn provides grants to eligible North Shore artists. In this way, the contributions received continue to work for artists year after year.
Purpose (as written in the Constitution)
To increase the public’s understanding and appreciation of the arts through a program recognizing the artistic contributions and accomplishments of individual North Shore artists who have demonstrated a maturity of talent. To undertake activities that are ancillary and incidental to the purpose.
